If you think your dog or cat has been bitten by a snake, you should try to keep them calm as possible and take them to a vet immediately. Without treatment your pet has a much lower chance of survival and may die.

If possible, immobilise your pet and keep them calm and quiet.

Apply a pressure bandage over and around the bite site, As you would for a person (depending on location of bite).

DO NOT wash the wound or apply a tourniquet.

NEVER catch or kill the snake! The venom around the bite site can be used to determine the species of the snake.

All Australian snakes are protected, Don't put yourself in unnecessary danger!
